Frequently Asked Questions

If you would like to become a member, please complete the application form by clicking here.

You must be at least 16 years of age to become a member of the Portsmouth and District Magic Circle. However, we have on occasion allowed under 16s if accompanied by an adult at the council's discretion.

There is a joining fee as well as an annual subscription fee to be an ongoing member. These costs are minimal (around £25 joining fee and £25 annual subscription) but vary from year to year as per decision made at the Annual General Meeting.

Traditionally members met every Monday (excluding August and bank holidays). However, following the COVID-19 pandemic meetings have been changed to two meetings per month.

We have a wide and varied calendar of events that allow members to learn the art of magic, as well as perform and socialise with like minded people in a welcoming and friendly environment.

Jumbo Day was the one-day annual sale and exchange typically run at the end of October and had become one of the UK's most popular one-day events. However, due to the changing nature of magic, declining numbers and the COVID-19 pandemic, Jumbo Day is currently taking a hiatus. Therefore until further notice, Jumbo Day will not be taking place.
